Tumbler Ridge is a jewel because of its natural beauty which the people have dedicated themselves to maintaining. This applies to the development and management of growth in the community, and is reflected in the superior quality of life that is enjoyed by the residents. The plan was quite simple: establish beautiful commercial districts that will entice pedestrian traffic and attract more visitors to the community. The goal is to establish a positive atmosphere that will naturally draw more business and lead to further success and investment within the District.
With this goal in mind, Tumbler Ridge has incorporated a comprehensive set of Urban Design Guidelines for the commercial core into the Official Community Plan. These guidelines aid in the development of private enterprise as well as upgrades by the District to public areas.

A Revitalization Tax Exemption Bylaw has been adopted. The purpose of the bylaw is to establish a revitalization program to encourage property improvements and revitalization in the District's commercial and industrial zones.
